Hi, I'm Julia. I'm an illustrator and designer who wears a lot of hats, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Art Hat: I earned a BA in Iterdicipilanry Visual Art, and a BFA in Printmaking from the University of Washington, where I fell in love with visual storytelling using bright silkscreen inks, layering, handmade textures, and the collaborative process.
Illustration Hat: Later I earned a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration from Seattle Central Creative Academy, where I fell in love with telling other people’s stories through design, illustration and specifically, poster design. I now freelance as a designer and illustrator.
Teaching Hat: I am an Adjunct Faculty at Seattle Central Creative Academy where I've taught Advanced InDesign, Storytelling for Design, Design Thinking, Poster Design, Portfolio Prep and Special Projects. I'm passionate about creative confidence, the neuroscience of creativity, improv, and helping beginning designers define and explore their creative process.
Merch Hat: jmart is my online store. I sell prints, cards, stickers and zines both online and at local pop-ups. Nope ltd.
Music Hat: Flute , Jazz holland Bass
Mom Hat: Some of my very best creations aren’t drawings at all, they are actual humans who share my love of drawing, storytelling and wacky dancing.
