BRAINS & PATIENCE
TEACHING
For a number of years, I worked with Portland Center Stage as one of their freelance poster illustrator /designers. I loved the variety of work I was asked to interpret, and working with “theatre people” is never, ever boring.
A Small Fire landed me in the New York Times twice - once for an interview on the process behind making it, and once when it was named one of the best theatre posters of 2014. Sex With Strangers got recognized by the NYT as well, for being one of the least “steamy” posters for the play in the entire United States.
I love how theatre can transport you to another time and place. Each poster was a different destination, requiring me to try different visual interpretations in order to grab the attention of their audience. I loved the challenge.
